when hooking up wire to the speakers for a car, does it matter which way the metal parts meet on the speaker?

i have a pair of alpine speakers and i have the speaker plugs with the two wires comming out to hook up to the speaker. does it matter if the which direction the metal part is facing to work on the speaker?

    I’m thinking you may mean the connection itself and not the polarity. The spade plug, if that’s what type it is, doesn’t have any special way of actually connecting to the speakers, but when it’s a question of which wire goes to which post, it matters.

  2. YES.. The positive wire: "+", has a white stripe on it. The negative: "-", does not.

    if you are talking about the negative positive terminals yes it has a lot to do, you may wire them the "wrong way" with no problem if you wire every speaker in your car the "wrong" way if you wire some right some right, especially in subwoofers the sound will be vastly affected, there will be distortion and cancellation of sound and bass, go on the safe side wire all red positve with the positive and the black negative with the negative, but it wont hurt your speakers, for more info in sound cancellation piporob2000@yahoo.com, email me
